May 2008
Ten years = 120 months = 520 weeks = 3650 days. Sometimes ten years seems like an eternity. When I was eight, I couldn’t imagine that in ten years I’d be in college. When I was 15, I couldn’t imagine that in ten years I’d be married. When I was 24, I couldn’t imagine in ten years that I’d be part of a new church plant called Crossroads.
Sometimes ten years seems like it’s passed so quickly. Last month we celebrated our tenth anniversary, and in many ways it seems like yesterday. The Bible teaches us “to number our days, that we may present to [God] a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12) If we truly appreciate our finite number of days, we should use every day as a precious resource.
We had a wonderful tenth anniversary celebration last month. Again I was reminded of God’s faithfulness. During our celebration we had a special moment where we dimmed the lights of the room and asked our guests to pick up their gift flashlights. I asked, “If you became a Christian or if you returned to God after a long absence, please switch on your light.” The room lit up. Each light represented a life that was forever changed, in part, due to the ministry of Crossroads. I was also reminded that the most blessed way I could have spent the last ten years was to be part of our wonderful church, as we have striven to be a biblically functioning community.
You are invited to join us on this grand adventure! This month on May 4, we’ll continue our Genesis series on Jacob leaving Laban. On May 11, we will have a special Mother’s Day message, sharing how children help their mothers mature. We’ll also have men serving lunch to all the Crossroads mothers. On May 18, the topic will be: Jacob wrestles with God. And on May 25, we’ll have a special guest speaker, Carol Hart of Zoe Ministries. (www.gozoe.org)
That’s it for now, but check in with us every month for the inside scoop. May God richly bless you!
